Across 250-plus Shibas since 2019, our clearest Halloween pattern has nothing to do with fabric. It is the door. Costumes are a photo-day question, but the loose dog on Halloween night is a real emergency, and it usually happens because a stranger at the door, a nervous dog, and a moment of distraction line up at once.

What did not work was assuming a Shiba would simply accept a costume because other breeds do. Many Shibas tolerate a light bandana or vest happily and refuse anything more, and forcing the issue only teaches the dog to dread being handled.
